Background
Hi my name is Elmo Francis (38) a banker and mountaineer. Since 1998 I have been conducting these expeditions and my passion has earned me a Research award to the Arctic on Climate Change with Earthwatch. Further I hosted a television program on National Geographic channel and earned a fellow status at the Royal Geographic Society in London in addition breaking several high altitude records for Sri Lanka.
My first expedition was in 2001 to the Himalayas. In 2006 I climbed Mount Mera Peak in the Himalayas (6654 metres) becoming the first Sri Lankan to summit this peak. In 2006 I was one of the four recipients in the world to win an expedition to the Arctic Circle to research climate change. The was organized by HSBC Bank and Earthwatch.
In 2014 I attempted the Camp 03 of Mount. Everest but was not successful due to the deadly avalanche that took place, claiming 18 lives.
I continued to climb other mountains and attempted to reach Advance Base camp of Mount Pumori in the Himalayas and successfully summited Mount Lobuchi East 6201(meters) in the Himalays in 2014. I continue to look for authenticity and make my climbs more purposeful and am committed to create awareness on climate change and its impact on bio diversity.
Project
I will be embarking on my fifth Expedition to Climb Mount Everest from the North side (from Tibet) also known as the North Col which is above 7000m.The expedition will be a point of interest both in the eyes of the public and private sector in addition to local and international community.
