I’m Oshani Munaweera, I created an organization named Help Sri Lanka Organization and have been helping pregnant mothers and newborn babies with medicine, formulas (under medical advice), clothing and household items, and dry rations on monthly basis.

There are so many children that need help with their medical equipments such as hearing aids, medicine and some with special need formulas from rural villages.

At the beginning, I started this organization to help them to get their essentials. This can also include school items to sanitary. My first target is to help some children from Pallepola which is located in Matale district. I have all the trusted information and all the details of the children I’m trying to help.

I’m helping to those families whose monthly income is less than Rs. 10,000 (Ten thousand).

Some students doesn't school at all. So I need to send them to school so they can overcome these situations. All the details are cross checked with the AG office at Pallepola, so there is no issue in helping the children.

As I am unable to help alone, I need a helping hand. After helping the children I can give updates on them with bills for whoever helps.

Also I collect cloths, bed-sheets, toys and books to giveaway to the families in need.

On 1st phase, I’m helping a Child aged 07, whose surgery is to done quickly. He needs a kidney transplant. His father will be the donor but, for the surgery they need Rs. 200,000 (Two Hundred Thousand). Their monthly income is Rs. 9000.

02nd phase on this project, I’m helping a child to get hearing aids. With the hearing aids the surgery costs around Rs. 300,000 (Three Hundred Thousand). He is 05 years old. The monthly income of this family is less than Rs.6000.

On 3rd phase I’m helping a Blind Child to get her a musical instrument and to give a scholarship on monthly basis till she completes her studies. Father works for daily wage and his medical condition is also not good at all.

On 4th phase I’m helping and entire family. Both the children on the family with 2 different ages are having Down syndrome. Mother is having a disability in her hand while the guardian of the family has removed one leg and one Kidney. This family expects help in Dry rations and a scholarship for both the Children.

05th phase on this project is to help a girl with Articulation Disorder. She is 07 years old. Parents are separated. Her mother needs to get her daughter treatments. As the family is so poor they are unable to do so. The mother expects help to treat the child.

06th phase I’m helping a son with Down syndrome, also he cannot walk and on over weight. He only has his mother and mother too have some mild Down syndrome condition. Currently Divisional secretariat is building their home and they are in need of some funds to complete the work. They only got a bed, some pots and pans at home and they have no income at all.

On 7th phase I’m helping a boy aged 16. He is very good at studies. After birth he was kept at NICU and bulb in that particular cubicle has fallen on his head. For past 16 years he has gone under several surgeries. The parents expect help for his studies.

08th phase is to help a child who cannot walk. Both his legs are crooked and have diagnosed as Blount disease. He is schooling and goes to school by a wheel chair. He also did a surgery for one leg and there's another surgery for the other leg to do. This child needs some help to his studies.

On 9th phase I’m introducing all these families to startup their own business by providing essentials so it can help their monthly expenses and medical treatments. The market will not bloom at once, but we can surely change their lives.

With the current status of the country, their situations have gone worse. Therefore, as a contribution in our level, we have decided to raise funds to help them. All the funds will be donated to the relevant under the supervision.

Hence the limit to help people will entirely depend upon your donations. We hope that your kind donations will enable me to help these children and families to overcome the situation. This baby girl was born in January, mother passed away during the delivery. Since then we are helping this baby with the formula (Lactogen) doctor prescribed.

We helped this son’s mother when she was expecting the baby with dry rations on monthly basis and baby essentials. This baby is having a problem in his hip since birth and now he is under medical supervision. So, we are helping them with that too.

Explaining the situation this people are facing currently, we are confident that donors will be generous enough to help us achieve the target of 3 Million LKR. Monthly scholarship costs Rs. 5000 and Dry Rations budget costs Rs. 15,000. Students get the Scholarship till Age 18, each child gets a scholarship of Rs. 150,000.

I started these projects on helping expecting mothers, Newborns, Children and families with disabilities at the beginning of Covid. Since then we managed to help few students with their studies, families with dry rations and some students with the medicines they wanted. Also I’ve helped mother to get their newborns Formula milk with was prescribed by doctors under special medical supervision.

While helping them I realized that there are so many children and families that need more attention and help. Some people in this village have not seen a sanitary pad in their lifetime, while some doesn’t know even a single word to read or write.

This child is 05 years old and need hearing Aids. The surgery costs around Rs. 300,000.

She is the child with Articulation disoder and needs help in Studeis and Medical checkups.
