Endometriosis is a chronic and debilitating gynecological condition that affects 1 in 9 women worldwide. For years, Endometriosis Support and Awareness Foundation (ESAF) Sri Lanka has diligently conducted informative training sessions on endometriosis for women and youth in Sri Lanka, primarily focusing on the western province. These sessions have been instrumental in educating individuals about the condition, its often elusive symptoms, and the available treatment options. In addition, we support economically disadvantaged women suffering from Endometriosis to seek medical treatment. Yet, amidst our efforts, we've identified a pressing need to expand our reach, particularly to schools and remote areas across the nation.

By broadening our programs to encompass schools and remote regions, we aspire to provide vital information and support to those who might otherwise remain oblivious to their condition or endure its challenges in silence. We firmly believe that early diagnosis and intervention can substantially enhance the quality of life for those affected by endometriosis.

Our work plan,

1. Collect data on endometriosis awareness, symptoms, and available healthcare resources.
2. Analyze survey data to identify gaps in knowledge and support for endometriosis in the target areas.
3. Develop age-appropriate educational materials and resources, including brochures, pamphlets, and presentations, to raise awareness about endometriosis.
4. Deliver educational sessions to students and teachers, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and intervention.
5. Organize workshops in remote areas, involving local healthcare professionals to educate the community about endometriosis.
6. Identify economically disadvantaged women and girls in need of medical treatment and offer financial assistance to help them access healthcare services and treatments.
7. Train local volunteers and community leaders to continue the educational and support initiatives independently.

We are seeking LKR 1 million in funding.

1. Collecting Data on Endometriosis Awareness, Symptoms, and Healthcare Resources: 25,000LKR
• This budget will cover expenses related to survey design, data collection, surveyor training, and data analysis.

2. Analyzing Survey Data to Identify Gaps in Knowledge and Support: 25,000LKR
• Funds will be used for data analysis, report generation, and identifying areas that require additional focus.

3. Developing Educational Materials: 100,000LKR
• This budget will cover the creation of age-appropriate educational materials such as brochures, pamphlets, and presentations.

4. Delivering Educational Sessions to Students and Teachers: 400,000LKR
• These funds will be used for organizing and conducting educational sessions in schools, including travel expenses, materials, and speaker fees.

5. Organizing Workshops in Remote Areas: 300,000LKR
• Budget for organizing workshops in remote areas, including venue rental, transportation, and healthcare professional involvement.

6. Identifying and Supporting Economically Disadvantaged Women and Girls: 100,000LKR
• Funds will be used to identify individuals in need and provide financial assistance for medical treatment.

7. Training Local Volunteers and Community Leaders: 50,000LKR
• Budget for training programs for local volunteers and leaders to continue and sustain the initiatives.

The Endometriosis Support and Awareness Foundation, Sri Lanka (ESAF) is a non-profit organization established in 2021 in Sri Lanka, founded by Rashani Meegama (Attorney-at-Law), a sufferer of 4th stage endometriosis, with the clear and important mission of raising awareness on endometriosis, a chronic and debilitating condition that affects millions of women worldwide. ESAF is also part of the World Endometriosis Organization (WEO), which aims to tackle global challenges that affect those suffering from endometriosis and improve health outcomes for women and girls around the world. ESAF's goal is to advocate for early diagnosis and provide lifestyle support to those suffering from endometriosis. Some of the projects we have done are as follows,

ESAF is led by a dedicated board of directors that includes Western medical professional, Ayurvedic doctors specialized in gynecology, Holistic and alternative health care specialists, Endometriosis patients, and volunteers who are passionate about improving the lives of women with endometriosis. The organization is committed to ensuring that women with endometriosis have access to timely diagnosis, appropriate treatment, and ongoing support to help manage the condition. ESAF is also focused on reducing the stigma associated with endometriosis and raising public awareness of the condition's impact on women's lives. We have upcoming awareness programs for schools, corporates, and factories all around the country. ESAF's partnership with the World Endometriosis Organization (WEO) provides the organization with access to the latest research, information, and resources related to endometriosis. This partnership enables ESAF to be at the forefront of efforts to improve the health outcomes of women with endometriosis in Sri Lanka.
