Minimalism 225’ is a campaign to raise funds to donate copies of a book I recently wrote on minimalism, first, to the 225 members of parliament and then hopefully, to all elected leaders in Sri Lanka.

I am hoping this will help in creating awareness amongst our leaders and the public alike about the importance of a minimalistic mindset, something most of us could do more with.

Minimalism is a concept endorsed by all major religions in the world and has made a ‘comeback’ as a lifestyle choice over the last few decades. Minimalism involves  ‘doing  more with less’ - by having less material possessions, only meaningful relationships and physically doing what is only important. We are left with extra time, energy and money, to make our lives the success we want it to be. Thus helping us be more productive, more content, help more people and leave a better legacy.

-Having personally benefited greatly from this concept over the last 10 years, I decided to outline the pathway to a more minimalistic and thereby a more productive life, in a simple 30 page book in all 3 languages published by MD Gunasena.

-the message of minimalism is vital, the majority of our leaders’ unnecessary talk and actions along with an end goal of accumulating material wealth, is popularly thought to be the main reason for the difficulty Sri Lanka is in at present.  Imagine if we could replace that with only meaningful words and actions and an end goal of helping others and leaving a positive legacy, our country would prosper.

This campaign is intended to approach and educate our leaders from an angle of constructive criticism, rather than of insult and anger. As, the total and lasting system change that we all want, only comes after a change in the mind-set of all those in positions of power at present or going to be in the future.
